Meeting Minutes of
April 29, 2013

Opened Meeting at 6:08 PM
Approval of Minutes:
Kim moved to approve the meeting minutes from March 25, 2012. Tom B. seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Old Business:
- Love’s Travel Center, Dunkin Donuts and Beni’s (old Teggiano’s) update – Love’s Travel Center is awaiting PZC approval for a zone change and a Special Permit (Public Hearing continued to May 7, 2013). A Love’s representative will attend our next EDC meeting (May 20th). Dunkin Donuts is awaiting IWWC approval for a permit modification and will have to apply for a special permit from PZC. Re Beni’s, renovation work continues with opening scheduled for July 2013.
- Business Feature on Website – Business profile on Stavens Bros., Inc. completed and on website.
- EDC Finances – There was discussion about using remaining funds to purchase a gift certificate for the owners of Anything Printed for all the unbilled hours they put into the Business Directory. Kim will check with the Town Treasurer re the appropriateness of such an expense.
- Business Networking Meeting – The next Business Networking Meeting is scheduled for October 2013. Jackie will determine whether First Niagra will be willing to sponsor the event.
- Chief Iron Wolf – No contact.
- Electronic Business Directory – Kim will reconfigure the Directory to make it clearer, and we will use our website to invite new businesses or others that wish to be included to email us. We will then contact them for the necessary information.
- CEDAS – Kim will email information she obtained to other EDC members.
- Kevin Shea – Synthetic Cinema International, LLC has reportedly found a property in Manchester for their film. They had been seeking an abandoned property in Willington.
- Marketing & Promotion – Tom B. agreed to put together a draft plan for how we can market and promote the EDC function/mission. It was suggested that he review the Plan of Conservation and Development.
New Business:
- New Business Activity and contacts – Tom B. reported that the State Department of Tourism is promoting an open House Day on June 8, 2013. Tom said that The Mill Works will participate. Tom B. will provide information to Kim for an eblast to other Willington businesses that may want to participate in the event.
Correspondence – None.
Public Comment:
- Ralph Tulis was present and contributed to discussion.
Ongoing Activities:
- Commission Vacancies - We have a full seat and two alternate seats open.
